It’s been 50 years since McDonald’s introduced one of its mainstay menu items to the masses, and to celebrate, it’s giving it a spicy upgrade.
The Spicy McMuffin has everything fans know and love from the traditional Egg McMuffin, but with a spicy kick courtesy of McDonald’s signature Spicy Pepper Sauce on top of melty cheese, a freshly cracked egg, Canadian bacon, and a toasted and buttered English muffin.
The McDonald’s summer lineup also includes the Spicy Sausage McMuffin and the Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg.
The limited-time Spicy McMuffin will be available at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide beginning on July 8.

Per a photo posted on the McDonald’s employees subreddit, customers will also have the option to add the spicy pepper sauce to any breakfast sandwich as an off-menu request (similar to my favorite secret menu item: the Girl Scout cookie milkshake, where you ask for half chocolate, half shamrock shake).
One commenter gave a review of the item, writing, “I’ve had the Spicy Sausage McMuffin for the past couple days (work there), and it’s surprisingly good! I would recommend trying it.”
Another commenter guessed that the sauce will “be used for the Snack Wraps too,” which make their long-awaited return to McDonald’s menus on July 10.
