Gearbox has unveiled Borderlands 4‘s latest Vault Hunter, a robotic cowboy named C4SH who is scheduled to hit the game when its first paid story pack DLC launches early next year.

C4SH is one of two new Vault Hunters who will join Amon, Harlowe, Rafa, and Vex as a part of the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned add-on. C4SH’s brief introduction trailer only shows off his concept art, not his in-game model, but Gearbox has also shared some information regarding C4SH’s past — and his plans for the future.

True to his name, C4SH was once a dealer bot at a casino, but is now a drifter who is obsessed with chasing “the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts,” Gearbox said in a recent blog post.

Like his fellow Vault Hunters, C4SH has three character-exclusive Action Skills and can enhance those abilities via a trio of branching skill trees. But Gearbox is still playing its cards close to the chest, and hasn’t yet revealed the specifics of C4SH’s in-game abilities. The studio did give players a hint, however. According to Gearbox, C4SH’s Action Skills will reflect his past as a dealer bot.

“C4SH’s Action Skills are distinctly unpredictable, as they all involve an element of chance,” said Gearbox. “We’ll be revealing the full details of his Action Skills later on, but C4SH’s risk-reward playstyle can lead to good fortunes like buffing himself and allies, dealing devastating damage, sapping the strength from foes, and more.”

Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned will be the first of two Story Packs for Borderlands 4. All post-launch content is included in the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition, but players can also choose to individually purchase each story pack, or buy them as a bundle via the Vault Hunter Pack.

Gearbox hasn’t shared an official launch date for either story pack, but the studio says C4SH will arrive via the release of Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, which is currently scheduled to arrive sometime in early 2026.
