Michael Douglas is in no rush to return to the big screen, but he hasn’t fully retired yet. In an interview with PEOPLE, the two-time Oscar winner said that while he is “not very active anymore” as a movie actor, he would consider working again if the right project comes along.

“I told my agents if they had a good director and a good script, sure. But I’m really not too involved in the career,” Douglas said.

Douglas is best known for his roles in films like Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, Wall Street, Romancing the Stone, and Marvel’s Ant-Man trilogy. His most recent big-screen release was 2025’s Looking Through Water, while his last TV role was in the 2024 miniseries, Franklin. However, he is set to make at least one more movie appearance in director Oliver Stone’s upcoming drama, White Lies.

Right now, Douglas is focused more on enjoying life with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their children: Dylan, Carys, and Cameron. He has opened up about this new stage of his life with his family in his tell-all memoir, One Helluva Ride, which he published on Tuesday.

“I haven’t slowed down but I spend my time very differently now,” Douglas wrote. I’ve traded the adventures for making movies for adventures with my family. For the past few years, I’ve made sure to plan at least one big family trip every year. Catherine has declared me the world’s best travel agent and she is the momarazzi, recording every last detail for posterity.”

In his memoir, Douglas stated that while he is not officially retired from acting, it will take “something special” to pull him away from his “wonderlife life now.”

“No matter what happens, even if I never appear in another picture again, it’s been a magical, wonderful career,” he added.
