Police have released new details about a violent carjacking in Milton, Ontario. Grocery store parking lot captured on video.
The incident occurred in a Metro parking lot around 9:40 am on Tuesday. 1050 Kennedy Circlenear Thompson Road South and Louis St. Laurent Avenue.
Police said the two suspects were driving a stolen white pickup truck.
The truck drove into a Metro parking lot and struck a parked car, police said. Honda CRV.
A video released online on Tuesday shows two suspects dragging a woman out of the driver’s seat. The woman is thrown to the ground before the suspect gets into the CRV and drives away.
Police said the victim was taken to a hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
“This is a shocking and violent crime that endangers the lives of many Miltonians. We are dedicating all available resources to relentlessly pursue and hold those responsible to account. 1 District Supt. Dave Stewart said in a news release.
In a news release issued Wednesday, Halton Police said they were aware of the video and were investigating.
Police also shed more light on what happened In the moments leading up to the carjacking.
The stolen white pickup truck was initially driving in and out of nearby traffic, officials said. Delhi Road and Holy Avenue In Milton, about 10 minutes before the carjacking.
Investigators said the same vehicle had been seen driving erratically “several times” throughout Milton.
He was also reportedly involved in two hit-and-run crashes and gas eruptions at Petro Canada near Main Street and Bronte Street around 9:35 am.
The same truck was then spotted driving through the fence Pineview Public Schoolnear Trafalgar and Five Side Streets, and at a playground where children were playing, police said.
No one was injured in these incidents.
Investigators said a white pickup truck identified as a 2014 Ford F250 was reported stolen from the Peel area on January 7.
Halton Police have released a brief description of the suspect and surveillance images of one of the suspects.
The first suspect is a Caucasian male, described as being about 6-foot-2 and of slender build. When he was last seen, he was wearing a gray sweater.
The second suspect is also a Caucasian male, in his late twenties, dark hair, clean-shaven, and slender. When he was last seen, he was wearing a dark colored hooded sweater.
