Minor Hotels has appointed Amir Golbarg as Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and Africa, effective January 1, 2026.
Minor Hotels announced the appointment of Amir Golbarg as Chief Operating Officer for its Middle East and Africa division, effective January 1, 2026. The appointment follows a period of growth for the company’s regional portfolio, which has included new hotel signings and expansion in markets such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Golbarg joined Minor Hotels in 2012 as Director of Operations and Hotel Openings in Bangkok. He later held several international roles, including Hotel Manager at Souq Waqif Hotel Doha. In 2019, he returned to the company as Vice President of Operations for the Middle East and Africa. His responsibilities expanded in 2021 to include Southern Africa, Mauritius, and Seychelles.
During Golbarg’s tenure, the Middle East and Africa portfolio received several industry recognitions in 2025. Properties under the Anantara brand received awards from publications including Condé Nast Traveller Middle East and Travel + Leisure, and Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara received a Michelin Key.
Golbarg’s appointment comes as Minor Hotels continues to increase its presence in the Middle East and Africa. The company has reported multiple new hotel signings and ongoing expansion in core markets. The company’s regional office is based in Dubai.
Golbarg began his hospitality career in 2007 in Dubai and is a graduate of the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland. He is based in Minor Hotels’ Middle East Regional Office in Dubai.
The appointment is part of Minor Hotels’ ongoing regional leadership structure and is intended to support further business growth in the Middle East and Africa.
