There’s one box office hero this weekend, and his name is Steve.

Long ago, the plain-looking Minecraft protagonist might have been found hiding in a crudely crafted dirt home, waiting out the night while zombies and creepers lumbered on by. But nowadays, Steve sits on a throne made of diamond blocks. That’s because A Minecraft Movie swept away all other competition this weekend for a box office win. It mined out $157 million domestically.

But Steve’s not the only man who’s been working hard. The Jason Statham flick, A Working Man, fell to second place with $7.28 million in its second weekend. That puts its total, so far, at nearly $28 million.

In a somewhat unconventional way, The Chosen franchise maintained its third-place victory, though not with the same film. While The Chosen: Last Supper – Part One fell to seventh place, Part Two earned $6.7 million. While that’s $4.8 million less than its predecessor made, it’s still just enough to put it before the box office flop, Snow White. The Disney film’s $6.09 million gain and fourth-place win seem just as sleepy as … well, Sleepy.

And rounding out the top five with $4.5 million was horror flick The Woman in the Yard.

Looking down the list, H— of a Summer may not have had a very nice time at summer camp, but it also couldn’t find success at the box office. The Finn Wolfhard slasher film only chopped up $1.75 million in its opening weekend, earning it eighth place. Meanwhile, The Friend, a film starring Naomi Watts and Bill Murray, took ninth place. It earned $1.62 million.
