How did Ms. Rachel get her start?

Before rising to stardom on YouTube, Ms. Rachel got her start as a preschool teacher in New York City.

According to her official website, the “passionate educator” was inspired by her and husband Aron Accurso‘s son Thomas to create “research-based videos to help toddlers and their families learn, bond and thrive” after he was diagnosed with a speech delay. She also taught an in-person class called “Songs for Littles” before launching her digital platform in 2019.

“His first word was at 2 years and 8 months and it was ‘mama’ and I had waited for that for so long,” Ms. Rachel previously told Today. “As a parent you want to do anything you can to help them and it’s not our fault when our child has a speech delay. A lot of things I teach are things I wish I had known for my son.”

The YouTube star, who has two master’s degrees in education, went on to explain that the lack of material available for kids and their parents gave her the idea to make content that was widely accessible for families who needed help.

“I needed experts to help me. I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if there was a show that really encouraged language development and worked on these important milestones and was slow-paced and a real person and very interactive?'” she recalled. “I kept searching for this show for him and we couldn’t find it, so I was like, maybe we can try to create it and maybe it would help more kids.”

What is Ms. Rachel’s net worth in 2025?

Ms. Rachel’s net worth is estimated to be around $6.5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Why is Ms. Rachel so successful?

Ms. Rachel has become one of the most successful YouTube creators because of her research-based content that is particularly appealing to toddlers. She also teaches “parentese,” which is a particular way of speaking to babies and young children.

“We’ve known for some time that the use of parentese is associated with improved language outcomes,” Patricia Kuhl, I-LABS co-director and professor of speech and hearing sciences at University of Washington, explained in 2020. “But we didn’t know why. We believe parentese makes language learning easier because of its simpler linguistic structure and exaggerated sounds.”

She added: “But this new work suggests a more fundamental reason. We now think parentese works because it’s a social hook for the baby brain—its high pitch and slower tempo are socially engaging and invite the baby to respond.”

What else does Ms. Rachel do?

In addition to her successful YouTube empire, Ms. Rachel is an ambassador for Save the Children and Room to Grow. She holds two master’s degrees—one in early childhood development and one in music education—and has made it her mission to help children in every way she can.

“I set out to just try and be helpful and have fun because I love education,” she previously told People. “I’m so passionate about it and I do think that’s contagious and that people can feel that I really care. I just want to help people. That is what nourishes my soul.”
