Season 13 of My 600-Lb Life kicked off on Sunday, Jan. 2—and with it, TLC viewers were introduced to Jonathan Colp.

Formerly an EMT, Colp hails from Illinois but traveled to Houston, Texas, to seek help from bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (known as Dr. Now). The 36-year-old weighed over 640 pounds at the beginning of the hour-long episode, with a BMI of nearly 90.

Until Colp sought Dr. Now’s help, Colp’s weight effectively confined him to his home. He struggled at first to make major changes to his diet and exercise. However, by the end of his My 600-Lb Life episode, Colp lost more than 150 pounds and qualified for weight loss surgery.

How is Jonathan Colp from My 600-Lb Life doing now?

On Jan. 1, 2025, the same day his My 600-Lb Life episode premiered on TLC, Colp shared before-and-after photos of his weight loss transformation on Facebook. It was clear that Colp continued to make huge progress after appearing on My 600-Lb Life.

“The left picture was taken before surgery and weight loss; the right picture is more recent,” he captioned the Jan. 1 update. “Body dysmorphia makes me always see myself as a big guy. I still hide in baggy clothes and oversized coats, feeling like I’m not changing. Losing weight requires redefining your relationship with food and yourself.”

Colp continued by noting that “addiction always has long-term effects.” However, he explained that, for him, “it’s about accepting that and changing your mindset, using food as fuel, not escape, and facing emotional and physical trauma.”

Was My 600-Lb Life Star Jonathan Colp able to return to work as an EMT?

That same day, Colp also shared a video via Facebook. And it looks like he returned to his work as an EMT!

“I just got home not too long ago from work at the hospital,” he told followers. “So I just want to say thank you, everybody, for the support and all the amazing messages that I’ve gotten telling me that I can do this journey.”

Hopefully, Colp will continue sharing updates on his wellness journey with his followers!
