Neil Diamond’s 1969 hit “Sweet Caroline” is the song that won’t die. And now it’s coming back again via a remix by the DJs known as Two Friends.

It originally peaked at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in August 1969 but since then it’s continued to find new life.

In the summer of 2021, it was adopted by English football fans during Euro 2020 and reached the top 20 in the U.K. The song originally reached No. 8 in the UK in March 1971.

Back in the U.S., the song was adopted by the Boston Red Sox in the late ‘90s and has been played as a fan singalong in the middle of the eighth inning of every home game since 2002.

The Two Friends remix of the song, which is officially sanctioned by Diamond, is getting mostly high marks in the comments on YouTube since it was posted on April 3.

“This is so dope!! Well done guys,” one fan posted, while another added, ” What a Beautiful noise!!!!”

“SO GOOD! SO GOOD!” added another, playing on the song’s backing vocal chant.

But not every comment was favorable. One wrote, “Wow Neil Diamond has become a robot and he hasn’t even died yet.”

Another noted the impeccable timing for the release. “Couldn’t have been released on any better day! Red Sox Opening Day!” The Two Friends Music account responded, “Somethings are just meant to be.”
