Netflix India’s New Thriller Series

Early in 2025, Netflix announced that film actor Parineeti Chopra — star of the Netflix Original Hindi movies The Girl on the Train and Amar Singh Chamkila — was preparing for her web series debut for the streamer. Filming wrapped in spring 2025, but the show’s name wasn’t revealed until the Next on Netflix India 2026 event, where it was announced as Talaash: A Mother’s Search.

In late August, 2026, the series’ name was quietly changed from Talaash: A Mother’s Search to Shaque: Trust No One ahead of the announcement of its September 24 release date. No official reason for the change was given, but there are already multiple films and at least one series named Talaash. No one is likely to confuse Shaque the series with the 1976 film of the same name. The change in subtitle also shifted the focus from the main character’s quest to the dangers she faces along the way, emphasizing the “thriller” aspect of this mystery thriller.

The series is co-created and produced by Siddharth P. Malhotra, who previously directed the Netflix Original movies Maharaj and Ikka. This is the first Netflix project for Malhotra’s co-creator and the show’s director Rensil D’Silva (24: India), who says: “We have tried to create a world where the audience is constantly second-guessing what they see and whom they trust. I hope Shaque keeps audiences guessing right until the very end.” Additional production duties belong to Sapna Malhotra (Ikka) and Alchemy Films.

Who is cast in Shaque: Trust No One?

Shaque marked a couple of firsts for star Parineeti Chopra. Not only is this her first web series, but she learned that she was pregnant with her first child — her son Neer — during filming. This necessitated some changes while shooting in the mountainous region around Shimla, which Chopra says director D’Silva generously accommodated:

They arranged for me to stay on set so that I don’t need to travel on those winding, mountainous roads every day, which was like an hour of travel, to and fro. They made arrangements for me to live on set, so that I can just come, shoot and get my rest. I felt blessed to have people like that. I saw Rensil sir make changes. Any other director would have said, ‘I am not going to do this’. But he helped me out so much that I never felt guilty for a single day. I felt cared for and nurtured.

Shaque: Trust No One debuts on September 24 and has a TV-MA rating in the United States for violence and smoking. The series drops with subtitle and dub options, including English dub plus Tamil, Telugu, Spanish, Portuguese, among others.
