TV shows come and go on Netflix. That’s something that we’re used to. However, the idea of Netflix losing one of its own Original Series seems absurd, and that’s exactly what’s happened in November, as It’s the End of the F***ing World is departing.
It’s a quiet exit, as is many of the exits of Netflix Originals. However, both seasons of the British drama are leaving the platform in November, and there’s no much time left to binge-watch.
When Is ‘It’s the End of the F***ing World’ Leaving Netflix?
Viewers have until Nov. 4, 2026 to binge-watch all 16 episodes, as the show will depart the very next day. That does mean there is time, but if you’re a broadcast fan, you know it’s going to be tight as almost everything is coming back this month!
The decision is going to be a surprise for some. What’s on Netflix hasn’t gone into the reasoning for this particular Netflix Original being quietly removed from the streaming giant, but it’s likely linked to licensing.
This wasn’t a global original. It’s the End of the F***ing World was originally a British series that was licensed by Netflix outside of the country. Most of these licensing agreements are for 10 years, but in this case, it’s a slightly shorter period of time. The second season arrived on Netflix on Nov. 4, 2019, so this marks seven years.
One of the Most ‘Astounding’ Shows on Netflix
As well as being an original, the decision to lose the show is also a surprise because of how “astounding” it’s considered being. In June 2018, Ted Sarandos told Vulture that “It was astounding how popular it was for us.” He even admitted that Netflix made a mistake in not backing it more than it did.
The series holds a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes, proving that the critics loved it. On top of that, it holds a 96% popcornmeter rating, making it clear that the audiences and critics were inline for once. Yet, Netflix isn’t fighting to keep it.
Of course, removals aren’t in stone until they happen. There is always a chance that a negotiation is happening behind the scenes. After all, there is still an interest in a show that involves a 17-year-old psychopath who finds that his intended murder victim is someone he actually wants to go on a road trip with.
