Netflix is ramping up its licensing pickups this summer, and we’ve learned that the hit Showtime series House of Lies, often seen as Showtime’s answer to Mad Men, is heading to Netflix (US) for the first time ever. All 58 episodes are heading to Netflix this July – read on for all the details.

Releasing on Netflix from July 23rd, 2025, for an unspecified licensing period (Showtime series typically last between a year and several years), all five seasons are heading to Netflix US, in addition to the show’s current homes on Paramount+ and Fubo.

On the air between 2012 and 2016, the comedy drama series came from showrunner Matthew Carnahan, who at one point was tapped to work on a Netflix project with the Russos titled Jet Black and is also working on a yet-to-be-unveiled project called The ‘Ohana

Based on the book by Martin Kihn, the series follows a number of management consultants who are ruthless and known for getting the job done, regardless of the consequences. The series didn’t receive the best reviews from critics from the outset, but arguably gained favor throughout its run. That said, the show is well-regarded by audiences, boasting an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.4 IMDb rating. The series also nabbed a number of awards throughout its run, not least a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV series.

While the show was canceled ahead of its planned sixth season, the show is absolutely still worth watching and doesn’t completely end on a jarring note.

As mentioned, Don Cheadle (The Avengers) and Kristen Bell (Nobody Wants This) headline the cast alongside an ensemble that includes Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Dawn Olivieri, Donis Leonard Jr., and Glynn Turman.

While this marks the first time the show has been available on Netflix US, it has been streamed in select other territories for periods of time. As NewonNetflix.info reports, Netflix in Canada held the rights throughout most of the 2010s before all four seasons departed in 2017.

It’s certainly going to be a busy month for new licensed series, which goes some way to make up for the removals of Disney and HBO titles. Other confirmed licensed titles coming to Netflix include the CBS series Mom, Mr. Robot from USA Network, Sneaky Pete from Prime Video, and The Hunting Wives, which Netflix has exclusively picked up from Starz for release in the US.
