The Monarch San Antonio, a $185 million hotel project, is scheduled to open on March 3, 2026, in the downtown Hemisfair District.

The Monarch San Antonio, a new $185 million hotel development, is set to open on March 3, 2026. The 17-story property is located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. Reservations for stays beginning in mid-April are now available.

The hotel will feature 200 guestrooms, including 28 suites. It will also offer three restaurants, a lobby bar, a spa, and over 15,000 square feet of event space, which includes a 5,000-square-foot ballroom. The development aims to address demand for high-end accommodations in San Antonio, where luxury hotel inventory currently accounts for only 8% of the market, compared to 20% in nearby Austin and Dallas.

The Monarch is situated in an urban park setting, providing proximity to San Antonio’s notable attractions such as the River Walk and the Alamo. The hotel’s design incorporates natural materials and contemporary architecture, drawing inspiration from the monarch butterflies that migrate through the region.

Owned and operated by Zachry Hospitality, the hotel stands on a site historically significant to the 1968 World’s Fair, continuing the area’s legacy of development. The project reflects a considerable investment, with nearly $1 million spent per room.

Dining options at the hotel include Oak & Amber, a restaurant featuring a menu inspired by local ingredients, and Aleteo, a rooftop venue offering Yucatán-inspired dishes and cocktails. The Nectarie Café will offer daytime dining with a focus on fresh ingredients.

The hotel’s wellness amenities include a spa with botanical therapies, a pool deck, and an open-air fitness studio. A notable architectural feature is La Mariposa, a pavilion designed in collaboration with local artists that serves as a central point for the property.

The Monarch San Antonio is currently accepting reservations for mid-April, with additional dates expected to open as the completion date approaches.
