Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced a new management agreement with Veda Hospitality Private Limited, part of the Golyan Group, to develop Hyatt Regency Lumbini. This will be the fourth Hyatt-branded hotel in Nepal, underscoring the country’s importance in the company’s expansion plans for Southwest Asia.

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is a popular tourist destination renowned for its spiritual and cultural significance. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to various historical monuments, including the Ashoka Pillar, a range of monasteries, and international temples.

The new hotel will be located on the banks of the Dano River, providing easy access to popular tourist attractions like the Mayadevi temple. Its proximity to Gautam Buddha International Airport, the city of Butwal, and the Nepal–India border will also offer convenience to international business and leisure travelers. The opening of the Hyatt Regency Lumbini is slated for 2028.

Dhruva Rathore, vice president of development for India & Southwest Asia, Hyatt, stressed the importance of Nepal in the company’s growth strategy. He expressed excitement about the partnership with the Golyan Group and the plan to bring the Hyatt Regency brand to Lumbini.

Akshay Golyan, managing director of the Golyan Group, shared a vision for the Hyatt Regency Lumbini as a world-class destination that respects and promotes Lumbini’s cultural heritage. He expressed optimism that the hotel would become a landmark in the region and significantly contribute to Nepal’s tourism industry.

Designed to inspire personal and professional connections, Hyatt Regency hotels aim to foster a sense of community among guests. The upcoming Lumbini property will feature 175 guest rooms, dining facilities, event and meeting spaces, and a range of amenities such as a fitness center, a wellness spa, an outdoor pool, and other entertainment facilities. The hotel’s design will blend modern elements with the traditional warmth of Nepali culture.

At present, Hyatt’s portfolio in India and Southwest Asia consists of 52 properties, 50 in India and two in Nepal, operating under nine different brands, including Andaz, Alila, Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Place, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, and JdV by Hyatt.
