The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the opening of a new hotel, Yarkay, in Thimphu, Bhutan. This hotel forms part of IHCL’s SeleQtions brand.

In the Himalayas, Yarkay offers a mix of Bhutanese heritage and modern facilities. IHCL’s CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, stated that the opening responds to a growing demand for experiential travel and aligns with the company’s plan to expand in key locations to attract international tourists.

Yarkay, with 83 rooms, is a peaceful retreat in Bhutan’s capital city. Its decor is inspired by the Four Friends folktale and local culture. The hotel features a blend of traditional and modern design elements, such as monastery-style Dzongs, cornices, and wooden panels.

The hotel offers a variety of dining options, including an all-day restaurant and Zachum, which serves traditional Bhutanese dishes made from local ingredients. The Sky Garden Restaurant provides a scenic view of the city. Additional amenities include a gym, an indoor pool, and a spa.

General Manager Vikram Patil expressed excitement at welcoming guests to Yarkay, reaffirming the team’s commitment to excellent service and providing memorable experiences.
