Hamilton is about to become the centre of the universe — at least for one night — when music legend Paul McCartney takes the stage for the grand opening of the newly transformed TD Coliseum on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Yes, that Paul McCartney.

The music icon and cultural juggernaut will help christen the ambitious new venue with a stop on his blockbuster Got Back Tour, bringing his timeless catalogue of Beatles and solo hits —”Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “Live and Let Die,” and more — to what’s shaping up to be one of the most buzzworthy openings in Ontario’s live music scene this year.

TD Coliseum, formerly known as FirstOntario Centre, has undergone a massive transformation and is poised to become a serious destination for major touring acts, high-profile events, and next-level fan experiences. This isn’t just a facelift, it’s a whole new era for live entertainment in Hamilton.

“Opening night deserves something extraordinary, and it doesn’t get any better than Paul McCartney,” said Nick DeLuco, General Manager of TD Coliseum. “This show marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for TD Coliseum and speaks volumes about the caliber of events we will bring to the region.”

Hamilton, long in Toronto’s shadow when it comes to hosting major acts, is stepping firmly into the spotlight with this one. And if opening night is any indication, the venue is aiming high. McCartney’s Got Back Tour is fresh off a run of sold-out international shows and a headline-making three-night stand in NYC that Billboard called “a religious experience.”

Now, he’s bringing that same rock-and-roll magic to a venue that’s ready to rival Toronto’s biggest stages, and getting there and back is about to get easier, too.

TD Coliseum is working with Metrolinx to offer post-show GO Transit service from West Harbour GO back to Union Station — so Toronto fans can soak up the nostalgia and still make it home the same night.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at tdcoliseum.com.

If this opening night is any sign, TD Coliseum is ready to put Hamilton on the live music map in a major way.
