Niagara Falls is getting a major facelift, and it includes some exciting updates.

According to the Government of Ontario, the province is “unlocking Niagara’s full potential as a world-renowned tourism destination with new attractions and entertainment.”

The announcement states the area is hoping to double the region’s tourism, and with that, it will be implementing multiple projects. Two of those projects are a new theme park and a new observation wheel, both expected to be “world-class” attractions.

“Niagara is home to the world-famous Niagara Falls, one of the most iconic tourism destinations on earth, along with a host of world-class restaurants, wineries, hotels, cultural events, and so much more,” says Premier Doug Ford.

“Our Destination Niagara Strategy will unlock the region’s full potential, supporting workers and creating new opportunities for tourists and families from Ontario and around the world to come and experience the best that the region has to offer,” Ford continues.

While details on both attractions are seemingly still in the works, the observation wheel is being compared to the ones found in Las Vegas and London.

The government is also working on “a potential new Niagara River Line attraction.” The experience would run year-round: an electric tram running nearly four km through Queen Victoria Park, offering views of the falls.

The entire strategy is broken down into five pillars, according to the plan. Those pillars include:

  • Tourism Attractions
  • World-Class Gaming
  • Wine and Culinary Tourism
  • Arts and Culture
  • Transportation Development

Sounds exciting if you ask me. Niagara Falls, we look forward to watching you grow.
