Nick Reiner was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia before the deaths of his parents Rob and Michele Reiner.
According to TMZ, in the weeks leading up to the murder of his parents, the 32-year-old was acting “erratic and dangerous.”
Two sources told the publication that Nick was under the care of a psychiatrist for his mental illness, but in the month preceding the murders, Nick’s behavior had allegedly become “alarming.”
The sources allege that doctors changed Nick’s medication roughly 3-4 weeks before his parents’ deaths in hopes of stabilizing his condition, which they believe caused his sudden change in behavior. The sources also claim that Nick’s substance abuse worsened his schizophrenia.
Nick also reportedly received treatment at a $70,000/month Los Angeles-based rehab facility that specializes in mental illness and substance abuse recently.
