Nicolas Cage to skip Montreal’s Fantasia Festival amid ongoing actors’ strike

The Montreal Film Festival has canceled Nicolas Cage’s appearances due to a Hollywood actor’s strike.

Cage was due to receive a Career Achievement Award at the Fantasia International Film Festival, which celebrates genre films such as horror and science fiction.

Cage’s latest sympathy for the devilis set to premiere at the festival on Saturday, but he won’t be there anymore.

The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA began its strike last Friday, with rules barring members from promoting studio films.

Fantasia said in a notice on its website that it would provide regular updates on other SAG members who were scheduled to participate.

The festival, which runs from July 20 to August 9, supports the actors and the striking Writers Guild of America and hopes the union can reach a fair deal soon.
