Nicole Kidman is paying tribute to her late mom, Janelle Ann Kidman.
While accepting an award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Friday, Jan. 3, the Babygirl actress took a moment to honor her mother, who died suddenly in September 2024.

Kidman, 57, was accepting the International Star Award, presented by Jamie Lee Curtis, during the ceremony on Friday night, where she told the crowd, “I feel my mama right now. This is for you, mama.”
In September, Kidman’s mother passed away shortly after the actress arrived in Venice for the Venice Film Festival, where she was supposed to receive the Best Actress award for her role in Babygirl. The award was accepted on her behalf by the film’s director, Halina Reijn, who read a written statement from Kidman.
“I didn’t get to do it at the Venice Film Festival,” the Big Little Lies star said through tears during her acceptance speech on Friday night. “Thank you for giving me the chance to say this is for my mom. My whole career has been for my mom and dad and they’re not here now.”

“But I still want to keep working and giving to the world because I love what I do and I love you all, and I’m so grateful for the privilege to be a part of the film community,” she added in the moving speech.
Following the news of her mother’s death in September, Kidman took to social media to share a heartfelt message in her memory. Sharing a series of photos with her mom and her sister, Antonia, Kidman wrote, “My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week.”
“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express,” she also wrote, while adding, “Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other ❤️.”
