Marie-Laure Ammons was born and raised in the rural Limousin region of France where she spent a lot of time outside, starting interest in nature and her surroundings. This naturally made her gravitate to the wine industry. After graduating from the École Viticole of Libourne Bordeaux and Beaune Dijon, Marie-Laure gained experience working internships in Bordeaux, Burgundy and south of France. Being alongside passionate winegrowers and winemakers along the way she was convinced that she needed to come to California.

After 18 vintages of dedicated work with Atelier Melka, a high-end consultant located in Saint Helena, CA, Marie-Laure decided to start producing her own wines. She moved south, working with growers who have history and unique terroirs, and created Nid Tissé in Santa Barbara Wine Country, CA.

Non-interventionist winemaking philosophy allows for full fruit expression. The grapes are pressed immediately after harvest under low pressure and the juice is cold settled in stainless steel tanks overnight then transferred to barrels. Indigenous fermentation takes place in the barrels. The wine is gently stirred once a week until full completion of malolactic fermentation.

The 2022 Nid Tissé Radian Vineyard Pinot Noir offers a beautifully balanced expression of the Sta. Rita Hills terroir. Its medium ruby hue hints at the depth within, as the wine opens with a complex bouquet of black raspberries, mulberries, and pressed flowers, accented by crushed stone, black tea, and savory underbrush.

On the palate, it presents supple yet structured layers of ripe black cherries and sour cherries, all woven seamlessly into a plush, medium-bodied frame with fine-grained tannins. Lifting acidity adds energy to the wine, while its subtle earthy undertones and spice notes, such as cinnamon stick and cracked black pepper, linger on the finish.

Aged in 18% Burgundian new French oak for 10 months, this Pinot Noir is both elegant and powerful, offering a mineral-driven conclusion that leaves a lasting impression.

Soil Profile: Terroir perched on dramatically steep slopes of clay-loam with large amounts of diatomaceous earth, providing excellent drainage, constant ocean breeze.
