A renowned activist, educator, and author is stopping in Toronto on a new book tour this fall, and tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
Pakistani education activist and Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai is bringing her Finding My Way book tour to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Nov. 7.
Discussing her latest book, Finding My Way, you’ll know Yousafzai as the young girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban for standing up for girls’ rights to education. It was her criticism of the Taliban that was published in 2009 by BBC Urdu that made her a target.
That was back in 2012, marking the beginning of the now-28-year-old’s story. Following that, Yousafzai would later move to London with her family and start a new life. At 16, she’d become the youngest person ever to receive a Nobel Peace Prize — “for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.”
Now, 13 years later, Malala’s tell-all book details her journey as a young woman through high school and broken hearts, to her graduation from Oxford University and everything in between.
Covering themes of friendship, love, big decisions, and that young adult angst, her stop in Toronto is part of the newly announced 16-city tour across North America and the UK.
While Yousafzai’s first book, I am Malala, detailed her life following that near-death experience as a child, think of Finding My Way as a sequel or follow-up, chronicling Yousafzai’s late teens and twenties. Published by Atria Books, Finding My Way will be released to the public on Oct. 21.
