Old Navy Is Selling a 'Comfortable' $28 Midi Dress So Similar to an Ann Taylor Style 5x the Price

Square necklines can really elevate an outfit if done right. While not all dresses need a square neck to look nice, it can add a professional vibe to your overall look. And Old Navy’s newer square-neck dress definitely fits the bill for “professional chic.” Plus it has a similar look to an Ann Taylor style that’s five times the price.

We’re talking about Old Navy’s Square-Neck Midi Dress, which is currently on sale for $27.99 (originally $39.99). It has a classic, slim-fitted look with just enough give that it’s not a bodycon dress. It has stylish princess seams that hug your curves and go from the neckline to the hem. It has short sleeves (almost capped), a hidden side zipper and (of course) a square neck. This dress is made with Ponte knit, made from 96% cotton and 4% spandex.

Since it’s a midi dress, it hits right at the shins, with a chic slit in the back of the dress for that businesswoman look. It comes in four colors: Baked Bronze (brown), In The Navy, Black Jack and Alpine Tundra (muted olive green). Like most Old Navy items, this dress also comes in three sizing options: regular, tall and petite.

While the midi dress hasn’t been around very long, it already has a handful of ratings and positive reviews.

“Love the fit!!” one person titled their review, writing that they want Old Navy to make floral prints next. “The fit is FABULOUS!! Just enough stretch yet cozy, comfortable!! Picked up every color (except black since I have ENOUGH LBD’s!!)”

Another person wrote that it was “very nice” and they also loved “the cut.” One other shopper wrote that you should just “get it, [you] won’t regret it!!” because they love how they can “pair it with anything!!” And yet another wrote that it was “very complimentary on any shape,” which is always a plus. 

Square Neck Cap Sleeve Sheath Midi Dress, $149 at Ann Taylor

As we stated before, this Old Navy dress looks a lot like the Square Neck Cap Sleeve Sheath Midi Dress at Ann Taylor. It’s currently $149 and only comes in Vibrant Magenta, but the style is very similar. It’s a fitted dress that goes past the knee, with capped sleeves and a square neck. It’s made with fabric made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex (with a lining that’s 100% polyester). It has slight princess seams (or seams like that) but they’re not as prominent.
