After a long, cold winter, the sunny season has arrived, and this spring, there’s no better way to celebrate the blue sky and warmer temperatures than with a road trip across Wild Rose Country.
Not sure where to stop? If you’re an adventure seeker with a need for speed, Canyon Ski Resort in Alberta should be added to your growing list of weekend escapes.
Located in Red Deer, equidistant between Calgary and Edmonton, this family-friendly fun park is extremely popular with snow bunnies in the wintertime and adrenaline-lovers in the summertime.
Want to feel the wind in your hair?
At Canyon Ski Resort, there are a ton of incredibly unique experiences to be had.
On May 31, hang on tight and scream your way down a winding track at speeds up to 40 km/h.
With 1,300 metres of excitement, Alberta’s first and only alpine coaster allows riders to take their time or go as fast as the ride will let them with the use of a brake that they can pull at any time.
The catch? Drivers must be eight years old and 4′ 1 1″ in order to ride without someone who is over the age of 16.
Not afraid of heights? On June 7, you can check out their one-of-a-kind obstacle course.
With 36 challenges, Canyon’s Adventure Park offers a day of fun for those over the age of eight.
From a 40-foot leap with three metres of free fall to a double zipline almost 500 feet long, there are a ton of opportunities to let loose and get your heart pounding.
Check out the outdoor climbing wall, whip down a thrilling three-story spiral slide, or get some air on one of the trampoline nets spread across multiple levels.
You’re going to be a blast.
The last attraction to open at the scenic destination this season? North America’s longest summer tube slide — accessible on June 21.
With two lanes, a 35-degree incline and 453 feet of fun, visitors can experience the thrill of sliding down a hill without snow as long as they’re over the age of four.
The best part? Getting your tube to the top is easy thanks to an uphill conveyor belt, or “Magic Carpet,” that will do the work for you.

Lace up your closed-toed shoes, grab a friend, some road snacks, and your camera, then head out.
