Ready for your next outdoor adventure? This Ontario town was once called one of the prettiest in the province. From its stone buildings to antique shops, restaurants, and even the oldest operating brewery in all of Ontario, Neustadt is next on our list and here’s what to know.

Fall adventures are upon us, let’s be real. So if you’re already planning your next getaway, consider this small yet mighty town. Neustadt is located about two and a half hours away from Toronto. You’ll find it within Ontario’s Grey County.

It was once named one of the prettiest towns in Ontario, and for good reason, according to its town site.

And that’s thanks to its historic stone buildings, beautiful antique shops, restaurants and a brewery with great reviews.

Exploring the town

You’ll find several wonderful shops and stone buildings along Mill Street. European-inspired boutique Atelier 522 has offered visitors beautiful and unique gifts sourced from local artisans as well as imported goods from around the world. Check out the selection of organic lotions and potions, handmade candles, linens, ceramics, glass, and an ever-changing array of artistic curiosities.

And be sure to stop by Granny’s General Store, which features an ice cream bar, delicious baked goods, and even a garden centre.

Also, go on an adventure along The Trail of Dreams. This is considered an easy hike “designed to help spark imagination.”

The Trail of Dreams’ website describes the trail as a “magical display featuring woodland animals, gnomes, and other characters greet visitors on their journey along the trail that follows Meux Creek.”

Last but not least, you need to check out the Neustadt Springs Brewery. It was established in 1859 and is the oldest operating original brewery building in Ontario, according to its site.

“Since 1859, the brewery that is now Neustadt Springs has sat upon one of the finest sources of pure spring water in all of Canada,” shares the brewery.

“Reputed to be the oldest operating original brewery building in Ontario, we pride ourselves on the refreshing purity, hard work, and rewarding history that goes into our beer.”

Sip on history and explore Neustadt this fall season.
