Planning a local getaway? Well, you don’t have to travel far to be whisked away to somewhere beautiful in the province. Niagara-on-the-Lake is often said to be one of the prettiest towns in Ontario and was just recently named one of the most beautiful places in the country by Travel + Leisure.

Found in the Niagara region, this waterfront community is bursting with charm and is also one of Canada’s most historic towns.

Summer is my favourite time to visit, and I’m taking all the hard work out of planning a little getaway.

Let’s start with the restaurants. The area is known for boasting some of the best places to eat, and a few of my own recommendations include Bistro Six-One, Corks Winebar, NOTL Bar & Restaurant, Ravine Vineyard Winery Restaurant and Noble.

There’s really no shortage of things to do while visiting, but one of the attractions I like to pop by while in NOTL is the Botanical Gardens. Now, I’m not afraid to admit that my favourite part of the town is what some know it for best — the wineries.

Yep, Niagara-on-the-Lake is crawling with wineries such as Bella Terra Vineyards, Between The Lines, Château Des Charmes, Ferox, Hare Wine, Inniskillin, Jackson Triggs, Lakeview Wine Company, Peller Estates, Queenston Mile Vineyard, Ravine, Strewn, and Trius.

Need somewhere to stay? I got you.

Pillar and Post Inn & Spa is on the pricier side, but if you have the budget, I can’t recommend staying here enough. The Woodbourne Inn is on the more affordable side and is just as amazing. 124 On Queen is another great option.

The wine and the views are calling; all you gotta do is pick up and plan the trip.
