From mountains to boreal forests! Wild Rose Country is a beautiful place often featured in movies and TV shows. In fact, some of the world’s most beloved production companies keep coming back to Alberta with celebrities big and small, and it’s left quite the impression.

Over the years, many familiar faces have gushed about the scenery, the people, and the food.

Here are just a couple who enjoyed their time in and around the province.

Lamorne Morris

“It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to,” Morris once told Jimmy Kimmel, adding that it appears desolate on Fargo, the show he shot in and around the area.

“It’s so cold, there’s so much snow, and there are so many cowboys for whatever reason. They’re just walking around all loosey-goosey just cowboy stuff.”

Luke Combs

Alberta loves country music, and country music loves Alberta.

In 2023, Luke Combs gushed about a trip he took to Alberta with his wife Nicole in which they drove from Calgary to Banff.

“It is the sickest drive, like 20 minutes out of Calgary, it turns into the most Rocky Mountain thing you’ve ever seen,” he told Joe Rogan on his podcast,The Joe Rogan Experience.

“It’s out of control man, I mean I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Andrew Garfield

The Amazing Spiderman, himself!

During an interview about the Alberta-shot show Under the Banner of Heaven, Andrew Garfield also raved about the province.

“Dude I loved it, I genuinely really loved Calgary and I love Alberta,” He said.

“I love the people, I loved the restaurants, I loved the food – the nature,” adding that he even took a ‘crazy cold’ dip in Lake Louise.

“I was like, why is no one else doing this… and then I jumped in and I was like – oh, now I understand why no one else is doing this. it’s very very cold.”

Pedro Pascal

We feel it’s safe to say that Pedro Pascal is a fan of Alberta.

The star of HBO’s The Last of Us, which was filmed in and around the province, Pascal has been quoted several times talking about his time in Calgary, Edmonton and Canmore.

“Shoutout to Canada, I love Canada – take me back,” he said once during an interview with eTalk.

It’s also worth noting that the actor once wore Calgary-themed socks during a public outing and happily shared a story about how he saw the Northern Lights for the first time while in the province.

Juno Temple

As the star of Fargo season 5, Juno Temple spent plenty of time in and around Calgary in 2023.

She was also lucky enough to see the Northern Lights and shared an incredible story on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“I came home and – this was randomly after one day at work. It was about 9 o’clock at night and on the other side of the picture, if I had done panoramic, you would see that there was an amazing moon and star which is what I noticed originally,” she told the host.

“Then the driver was like, “Juno, look up,” and I was like holy shnikes!”

Daisy Edgar-Jones

So much love in one interview!

During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones spilled about her time in Alberta filming Under The Banner of Heaven.

Sitting next to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) Edgar-Jones practically lit up talking about Banff – which she said “was the most beautiful place” before completely roasting its name and even mentioning that Calgary restaurant Model Milk was a personal favourite.

Jon Hamm and Joe Keery

Juno Temple was not the only one who shared a very Albertan experience with fans.

Fargo, actors Joe Keery (Stranger Things) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men), were once spotted at a Flames game supporting the team, and they appeared to enjoy themselves.

During this time they even took photos with fans in between periods!

Gabriel Luna

Gabriel Luna is no stranger to Alberta, coming back several times since filming The Last of Us.

“Albertans are real good people,” he said, sharing his excitement about a November Flames win on social media.

Come back anytime, Gabriel!

Bill Burr

Though we can only assume it was out of love, comedian Bill Burr once recalled a show that he did in the city of Calgary, calling us a rowdy bunch.

According to Burr, Calgary was the ‘craziest crowd’ he ever had and even talked about how awesome the destination was for over a minute.

“In Calgary, they we’re f***ing animals at this place! Animals!”

Bella Ramsay

An active presence on social media, Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Catherine Called Birdy) is also a big fan of the area.

“CALGARY, I can’t believe how much I missed you,” the powerhouse performer once wrote. In addition, Ramsey has posted several photos taken while filming in the area with captions reflecting on what a “beautiful sunny cold ass country,” the Great North is.

Tate McRae

Pop icon, Tate McRae, is another celebrity who has given Alberta several shoutouts and even named a song after the city where she grew up.

Originally from Calgary, Tate couldn’t contain her excitement when she kicked off the North American leg of her tour in YYC.

“MY FIRST HOMETOWN SHOW. could not be more proud to be from Calgary and could not be more grateful for all ur support. that was sick i love u guys thank u.”

Nick Offerman

“I would move to Calgary in a heartbeat.”

Actor and stand-up comedian, Nick Offerman, once told The Calgary Herald, that the city has everything, and we’d agree.

No matter the time of day, or the time of year, there is so much to explore, see and, do.

It’s a pretty special place!

Tegan and Sara

Hometown heroes!

Alt-pop duo Tegan and Sara are also big Alberta fans – more specifically, Calgary, where they were raised. In fact, they wrote and produced an entire show about their upbringing in the city, aptly named High School, which was filmed mainly at Crescent Heights.

Cute, right?

There’s really nothing better than a celebrity who loves Alberta – hopefully, this list continues to grow.
