Prince Edward County is full of life, especially in the summer season. A number of towns fill the county and a few of them are very popular destinations year round. From its historic towns to shoreline beaches, there’s a lot to do in PEC and here’s what to know.
Though we could go on and on about PEC, we’ll stick to the highlights.
There are three main historic towns in the county worth visiting — Wellington, Bloomfield, and Picton.
These towns are fairly close to each other and are easy to navigate. Each of them boasts a vibrant main street with artisan shops, boutiques, restaurants, inns, and cafes.

Explore the number of antique stores and authentic farmers’ markets such as the Hagerman Farms seasonal farm stand, which has farm-fresh produce and treats with animals on site.
Or pay Sandbanks Provincial Park a visit.
According to Ontario Parks, Sandbanks has “three expansive sandy beaches that some say are among the best in Canada; Outlet Beach is perfect for families, with shallow waters and gentle drop off.”

One of the beloved hotels in this area is not just well-known locally but recognized globally. The Drake Devonshire is recognized by Condé Nast Traveller UK making its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, and is in the Michelin Guide‘s “Nine Boutique Hotels to Know in Ontario.”
As for eats, the County has some culinary gems to discover. Head to the town of Bloomfield, where there are several restaurants to choose from.
Stop by Flame + Smith, a sustainable restaurant that offers meals using woodfire cooking and a selection of unique cocktails.
And as for drinks, PEC is most famously known to most as a wine region. So that means you will find a huge variety of local wine-makers here where you can wander among the vineyards, sample some sips, and purchase a bottle to take home.
Visit Huff Estates Winery and embark on one of its wine tours.
Or head to Wellington and stop by Rosehall Run – a beautiful vineyard, with a 150-acre farm, along with a tasting room and grocer.
