A Longo’s customer in Ontario got an unexpected surprise recently after purchasing what they believed to be a vegetarian dish, only to find meat inside.
In a photo submitted to blogTO, a shopper says they purchased the Cheese and Spinach Cannelloni from the Longo’s Liberty Village location at 1100 King St. W.
According to the packaging, the dish is described as containing ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. However, after opening the dish, the shopper discovered it actually contained meat cannelloni inside.
“We appreciate knowing about what this guest has identified,” a Longo’s spokesperson told blogTO.
“There is no current recall on this product. Our internal teams will look into it, but at this point, it appears to be an isolated incident.”
The mix-up most likely stemmed from the fact that the brand’s meat and vegetarian cannelloni have very similar packaging. While Longo’s investigates, it’s worthwhile to double-check your dish if you’ve purchased a similar item from the grocery store.
