Are you ready for the upcoming holiday season? I’m talking about Halloween, of course. Canada’s award-winning Halloween experience is back this September. Enjoy the magic of over 10,000 hand-carved pumpkins as they light up the night sky at Pumpkins After Dark.
The beloved annual event, which brings pumpkin sculptures to life, returns on Sept. 27, 2025, to Milton, Ont., with a one-of-a-kind walk-through experience.
Pumpkins After Dark
Thousands of hand-carved pumpkins will be on display for all to see. We’re not just talking about your typical Jack-o-Lantern — these are works of art, including huge art installations.
Stroll along the magical pathway of lit pumpkin sculptures and displays, with music, sounds and special effects. Expect classic Halloween characters, dinosaurs and dragons, movie and pop culture icons, too.
How long is the trail?
The pathway is about 1 km long, and most guests spend about an hour or two at the show. It is self-paced, though, so take your time and snap those pics.
“Our creative team works year-round designing, carving and building the pumpkin displays,” shares organizers.
“It takes approximately 11 months to create one show. At Pumpkins After Dark, we take pride in showcasing the incredible talent of local Canadian artists. Each sculpture is meticulously hand-drawn and carved, representing hours of dedication and passion.”
Are the Pumpkins real?
A combination of craft and real pumpkins is used throughout the event. That doesn’t disregard the fact that they are still hand-carved designs.
“Our large installations are made of specialty craft pumpkins (a unique low-density foam) to mimic the texture and density of a real pumpkin,” shares organizers. “Since these pumpkins won’t rot, our artists can design and build larger, even more impressive displays.”
What else to expect at Pumpkins After Dark?
This year is set to be one of the most interactive shows ever with all-new displays, a new Dracula’s castle maze with spooky air effects, and more actors than ever before.
As for eats, this year’s featured food will be mini churros. But of course, there will be more bites to enjoy.
And needless to say, the trail itself is a must.
Can’t make it to Milton? No problem! Pumpkins After Dark is also taking place in London, Ont., at 1958 Storybook Lane. It begins Oct. 3, 2025.
This is definitely one of the best fall experiences in Ontario.
