Oreo is serving up the sweet flavor of nostalgia this holiday season.

Ahead of the arrival of colder weather, the cookie brand quietly dropped its own variety of hot cocoa mix, which, if that sounds familiar, it’s probably because, at one point in time, Dunkin’ offered an Oreo-flavored hot chocolate.

The coffee brand initially introduced the hot seasonal beverage as part of its fall-winter menu in September 2016. Unfortunately, it didn’t stick around for long, as it was eventually discontinued in 2022 to reportedly “make room for new items.”

But now, it could be back, albeit a slightly different recipe. A DIY version of the hot chocolate beverage now featuring pieces of the cookie is currently available at retailers that regularly sell Oreo-branded products for a limited time in a tin serving 8 cups ($4.96). The brand that makes it, Frankford Candy, also manufactures the hot cocoa mix in individual packets sold alongside gift-wrapped cups.

In response to a post shared by trusted food blogger Markie_devo, fans declared they “need” to get their hands on the mix.

“I’m very interested in trying the Oreo hot chocolate mix,” a second added, “Hopefully it’ll taste like warm cookies and cream, can’t wait to try some.”

“Im curious how the cocoa will compare to the Dunkin version,” another admitted.

Dunkin’s Oreo-flavored hot chocolate looks to have differed slightly, as it encapsulated the “flavors of cookies and crème” rather than the literal pieces.

That said, Markie_devo suggested that if the big tin of cocoa mix is the same as what’s offered in the individual packets, then “it’s awesome.”

That’s not all that the makers of “milk’s favorite cookie” have in store for fans this giving season, with several other festive releases also spotted on shelves in recent weeks—including White Fudge Covered Oreos, which have become practically synonymous with the winter season.

Among the 2024 winter flavor lineup are the Oreo Festive Cream cookies, Oreo Candy Canes and Oreo Snowballs. Other limited-edition offers include an Oreo Milkshake Kit as well as an Arctic Cookie Skating Rink and an Oreo Cookie Train Kit that fans can assemble as an alternative to traditional gingerbread houses.

Oreo’s growing list of seasonal holiday goodies has already been spotted at various retailers, including Walmart, Five Below, Amazon and Target.
