Otis Redding’s son dies from cancer

Otis Redding III, the son of legendary 1960s soul singer and eponymous singer and guitarist, died of cancer at the age of 59, his family said Wednesday.
Redding was just three years old when her father, Otis Redding, died along with several band members in a plane crash on December 10, 1967. He recorded six albums for Readings in the 1980s.

The Reddings’ singles “Remote Control” and “Call The Law” made it onto the Billboard music charts, but the Redding brothers never matched their father’s success. After the band recorded their last album in 1988, Redding continued to play and perform.

Redding said he was grateful for the enduring legacy, even if it overshadowed his own efforts to make music.
