Outlander fans are feeling waves of emotion after the TV series shared its Season 8 cast portraits, commemorating its final day of filming.

On Friday, the long-running STARZ drama took to social media with a dozen photos of its cast members in character and posing on the outdoor set in Scotland with the clapperboard, which was dated that same day (Sept. 27) and included the phrase, “It’s a wrap!” as well as a subtle message from everyone who held the board, declaring what they’d like to “take” now that filming is complete (unsurprisingly, some of the answers included “a nap” and several items from the set).

Featured in the 12-slide roundup were actors Sam Heughan (as Jamie Fraser), Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser), Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield MacKenzie), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser), Lauren Lyle (Marsali MacKimmie Fraser), John Bell (Ian Murray), David Berry (Lord John Grey), Charles Vandervaart (William Ransom), Diarmaid Murtagh (William “Buck” MacKenzie), César Domboy (Fergus Claudel Fraser), Izzy Meikle (Rachel), as well as executive producer Maril Davis, writer and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts.

“Today marks the final day of filming on the final season of #Outlander,” the accompanying caption began. “Words cannot express the gratitude owed to each and every hard-working cast and crew member who brought this incredible series to life and every single fan who supports it with passion, creativity, and dedication.”

“Outlander really is more than just a show, it’s a family, and while filming might be ending, there’s so much more to this journey that’s just beginning,” it continued.

Fans agreed, sharing their love and appreciation for all those who made the eight-season run possible in the comments.

“Congratulations everyone! What a bittersweet moment,” one top-liked response gushed. “Thank you for all of your hard work to give us a wonderful show all these years! Cheers! 🥂.”

“First Dame Maggie Smith and now this post 😭,” another heartbroken fan wrote. “Congratulations to everyone involved ❤️.”

“The VERY best!! You all brought the most epic, beautiful story to life. One I’ll be watching over and over, always! 🥹❤️,” a third confessed. “Thank you and congrats to everyone!!”

“It’s bittersweet. Thank you for those beautiful moments,” a different fan shared. “Remember. Isn’t the end. The journey continues. ❤️.”

Though much about the eighth and final season of Outlander remains hush-hush, we have a feeling it’ll air sometime closer–if not when we’re already into–2025 during its regular time slot or streaming on STARZ.
