Panera is giving its menu a spring refresh, adding what we suspect will be a game-changer for sandwiches going forward.
In what the chain of cafes has dubbed a “first of its kind bread innovation,” customers can now enjoy the “flaky” and “buttery” flavors of fresh croissants in an all-new way that’s said to deliver an “experience like nothing Panera has done before.”

Panera’s new Croissant Toast bread is, simply put, sandwich bread made from “all-butter croissant dough,” according to a press release shared with Parade. When it launches, it will be exclusive to the two all-new menu items it debuts with.

For a limited time, Panera customers can choose from two varieties featuring its new “transformed” sandwich bread:
- Croque Monsieur Croissant Toast: Black Forest ham, melty provolone and asiago cheeses, and a caramelized onion and gruyere spread come together to make a ham and cheese sandwich that is completely reimagined.
- Fromage Croissant Toast: Melty provolone and American cheeses, caramelized onions, arugula, and garlic aioli transform a simple classic into something extraordinary.
The items debut at participating locations beginning today, April 16, as part of Panera’s Spring menu refresh, which also includes the launch of the new Strawberry Caprese Salad as well as the return of two seasonal favorites: Strawberry Poppyseed Salad andMexican Corn Chowder.
