Decades after The Parent Trap, Elaine Hendrix is looking back at her time on set and her friendship with co-star Lindsay Lohan.

The duo first worked together in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, which follows identical twins Annie and Hallie, both played by Lohan, who have been separated at birth. When they meet by chance at summer camp, the sisters decide to work together to reunite their divorced parents. Hendrix played Meredith Blake, a 26-year-old publicist from San Francisco who is only planning to marry Nick (Dennis Quaid) for his money.

The two recently reunited in the film Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday. Hendrix made a cameo in the 2025 sequel as Blake Kale, who works for a magazine featuring Anna’s client, pop star Ella (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan). Lohan, who reprised her role as Anna, now works at a record label.

“I hadn’t seen her since she was a little girl, since we did Parent Trap, and now that she’s all grown up, we’re reconnected, we’re in touch,” she told the New York Postafter making her debut on Dancing with the Stars. “I just think that she’s had an epic life. She’s had the life that every young woman should have; she just happened to do it in the spotlight.”

After starring in The Parent Trap in 1998, she rose to fame with her roles in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, solidifying her as a powerful actress in Hollywood. Her career, however, was marked by highly publicized personal struggles, legal issues and battles with addiction, which impacted her work and media image.

After stepping away from the spotlight and moving to Dubai, she slowly started returning to acting. In 2019, she starred in Netflix’s Among the Shadows, and her newest movie, Freakier Friday, was released in theaters in August.

Meanwhile, Hendrix is currently involved in several creative and philanthropic projects, including producing the off-Broadway show Ginger Twinsies, a parody of The Parent Trap. The 54-year-old actress also recently made her Dancing with the Stars debut on Tuesday, during the premiere of the show’s 34th season.

Fans can watch Lohan and Hendrix in The Parent Trap on Disney+. Meanwhile, Freakier Friday is still playing in theaters.
