Just one week after Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested on suspicion of DWI, the former pro baseball player’s son, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, won the Super Bowl. However, Mahomes Sr. was nowhere in sight.
On Sunday, Feb. 11, there was notably a lack of photos and video clips showing Mahomes Sr. at the big game between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. It’s possible the elder Patrick may have attended the 2024 Super Bowl but kept a low profile—but as of writing, he was not spotted at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.
However, Mahomes was surrounded by his family, as wife Brittany Mahomes was on-hand to help her husband celebrate, along with the couple’s two young children, daughter Sterling, 2, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 1, who were decked out in matching Chiefs gear.
The NFL star was named Super Bowl MVP for the third time—and his mother, Randi, was also there to shower him with love and support during the milestone moment.
On Saturday, Feb. 3, Mahomes Sr., 53, was arrested in Tyler, Texas, on suspicion of DWI, according to public records. He was held at Smith County Jail following the arrest; the listed charge was driving while intoxicated for the third time or more. On Sunday, Feb. 4, Mahomes Sr. was released on a $10,000 bond.
Mahomes Sr.’s recent incident comes after two prior DWI charges—one in 2018 and another in 2019. Additionally, his jail record shows two separate DWI arrests in 2012.
