If you work in downtown Seattle, prepare to meet your new favorite lunch spot! PCC Community Markets (PCC), the beloved community-owned grocery co-op, is making a comeback to Downtown Seattle. This time with a twist!

The new location will be a small-format store at 4th & Union on the same footprint as the old location that closed back in January. The small but mighty 6,500 square feet store is taking the best of the old, with a fresh new spin.

Why a smaller location?

PCC’s leadership team, in partnership with their landlord Wright Runstad, has been working hard to reinvent the space. They took notes from what worked best with their previous full-service store, like the beloved prepared foods and deli department. This new store will pack all that into a more streamlined setup.

The new PCC will be a short walk from office buildings and downtown apartments. All the better for grabbing hot, fresh meals and prepared foods when you’re on the go! The smaller location will still have a selection of grocery essentials, all picked according to PCC’s high standards for quality and sourcing.

Krish Srinivasan, PCC’s President & CEO, said “We continue to hear– from co-op members, our staff, and downtown residents – about a strong need in the city center for the kind of unique shopping and dining experience that only PCC offers. We are thrilled to be able to meet that need by returning with a new concept that promises significantly better economics than a full-service grocery store.”

So if you live downtown, you’re covered for all those last-minute necessities!

About PCC Community Markets

Since 1953, PCC has been a local staple for organic, fresh, and locally sourced food. The co-op has over 115,000 active members with a mission to balance environmental, social, and economic goals.

Their new store is meant to be a testament to that commitment, blending tasty food with smart, sustainable business practices – like using the remaining space next to the smaller store to relocate the co-op’s office which serves all 15 stores operating in the Puget Sound area.

Walt Ingram, Chairman & CEO of Wright Runstad & Company said,  “On behalf of our ownership and the entire Rainier Square community, we look forward to welcoming PCC back with open arms.”

The store is set to open in the second half of 2025. Stay tuned for more announcements and a big opening day celebration!

Your lunch break is about to get a whole lot tastier.
