A recently opened bakery in Ontario is quickly capturing the attention of pastry lovers and sweet tooths across the GTA for its inventive twists on classic desserts.

Tatin Bakehouse, located at 2345 Wyecroft Rd. Unit 20 in Oakville, is the product of a collaboration between renowned pastry Chef Lili Linda and business partner Sheila Wang.

Since opening in late 2024, the bakery has already received rave reviews for its innovative offerings, which blend classic French pastry techniques with Southeast Asian flavours.

Chef Linda, who is originally from Indonesia, previously served as the head of pastry for the Michelin-starred Hexagon Restaurant and 7 Enoteca in Oakville. After working in the industry for several years, Linda decided she wanted to venture out on her own, which began with her bi-weekly dessert boxes.

As demand grew, Linda tells blogTO that she decided to shift to something more regular, which led to the opening of Tatin Bakehouse. The bakery’s name draws inspiration from the classic French dessert Tarte Tatin and Linda’s daughter.

The rotating menu features both signature pastries and weekly feature items, many of which reflect Linda’s Indonesian heritage. “I wanted to highlight the country where I’m from, so we’re serving Indonesian-inspired treats, with a twist,” she explained.

Signature items include almond croissants, and a variety of sweets, such as crème brûlée, custard tarts, and croissants filled with red bean and pandan custard. One of the items Linda is the most proud of is the bakery’s Rendang Shepherd’s Pie, which features a spicy, caramelized beef brisket filling.

Alongside the pastries, the bakery also offers brewed coffee and Chinese teas, which pay homage to Wang’s background.

While the bakery is still in its early stages, Linda hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility of future expansion. “Never say never,” she said when asked about the possibility of bringing the business to Toronto.

For now, the bakery’s team will focus their time and energy on delivering high-quality pastries at their Oakville location.
