A medical plane carrying a child, her mother and four crew members crashed into a neighborhood in Philadelphia Friday night, killing everyone on board and injuring several people on the ground.
The crash happened along Cottman Avenue near Bustleton Avenue and the Roosevelt Mall shortly after 6 p.m., erupting into a huge fireball and engulfing nearby homes and cars in flames.

What we know:
All six people on board were from Mexico, according to Jet Rescue Air Ambulance spokesperson Shai Gold. The child had been receiving treatment in Philadelphia for a life-threatening condition and was being transported home to Mexico. The flight was scheduled to stop in Missouri before continuing to its final destination in Tijuana. There were no survivors.

Gold emphasized that the flight was operated by a highly trained crew, calling the crash both shocking and unexpected.

“All of the aircraft are maintained, not a penny is spared because we know our mission is so critical,” Gold told the Associated Press.

Officials told FOX 29’s Steve Keeley at least six people were treated for injuries at local hospitals. Three were treated and released. Three others were listed in stable condition.
What we don’t know:
It’s still unclear if there were any other fatalities in the crash. Officials haven’t released that information yet. It’s also not yet known what caused the crash.
