Former President Jimmy Carter from Plains, Georgia, died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter, on Jan. 9 in Plains. Before that, his body will be transported to The Carter Center where his body will lie in repose and the public will be able to pay their respects. On Jan. 7, he will be transported to Washington, D.C., where he will lie in state and the public will be allowed to pay their respects once again. After a state funeral on Jan. 9, he will be immediately transported back to Plains where he will be buried in a private ceremony.
