If you’ve got plans to drive through or around Montreal this weekend, you might want to reconsider your route.

Quebec’s Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable has issued a heads-up about several major highway closures from Friday night through Monday morning, including a full shutdown of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge. The work is part of ongoing maintenance and reconstruction projects across the region.

Here are some of the most impacted areas to keep in mind between Friday and Monday:

Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge (A-40)

Friday 11:59 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
The bridge will be fully closed in both directions between Vaudreuil-Dorion and Senneville.
Detours: Eastbound via A-30 east, A-20 east and Anciens-Combattants. Westbound via Anciens-Combattants, A-20 west and A-30 west.
Note: The toll on Highway 30 / Serge-Marcil Bridge will be lifted in both directions to help ease traffic.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)

Southbound: Friday 11 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. — full closure between Sherbrooke Street in Montreal and Route 132 in Longueuil.
Northbound: closed in two phases — Friday 11 p.m. to Saturday 8 a.m. and Saturday 11 p.m. to Sunday 9 a.m.
Expect delays and detours via Pie-IX, Sherbrooke, and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

Laviolette Bridge (A-55)

Friday 8 p.m. to Monday 6:30 a.m.
Two of four lanes will be closed between Trois-Rivières and Bécancour, with one lane open in each direction.

Mercier Bridge Interchange (R-132 / R-138)

Ramps to Châteauguay and La Prairie will be closed at various times from Friday 10 p.m. to Sunday 5 a.m.
Detours will be in place via Old Malone and R-207.

REM (Réseau express métropolitain)

Full network closures continue every Saturday and Sunday in April for the next phase of service testing.

Bonaventure Expressway & Victoria Bridge

Ongoing lane reductions and ramp closures remain in effect.

As always, all work is weather-dependent and could change. Drivers are advised to check Quebec511.info for up-to-date traffic alerts and detour routes.
