Pokémon TCG Pocket Ruler of the Skies adds some Mega favorites

After previously teasing its July release, The Pokémon Company unveiled the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion on Thursday. Pokémon’s Ruler of the Skies is shaping up to be a huge — or, shall I say, Mega — update that debuts Mega Rayquaza ex and adds more stunning Mega Evolution cards.

Pokémon TCG Pocket routinely adds a new expansion at the end of each month, but they aren’t all headlined by exciting Legendaries. Mega Rayquaza ex and its stunning artwork is the main draw of the Ruler of the Skies pack, but the Mega Gallade ex and Mega Metagross ex are just as much of a feast for the eyes.

Other Ruler of the Skies cards include Pokémon Psyduck (with a Migraine attack, poor guy), Genesect, and Absol. Two Supporters, Skyla and Wally, are included, as well as the Rainbow Cave stadium.

Ruler of the Skies brings new game updates too. You can share your decks with other players via 2D pattern codes, obtaining cards included in multiple booster packs will register it for you across all those packs, and if “certain conditions are fulfilled when opening a booster pack” your next booster pack from that expansion will guarantee a four-diamond card or higher, according to a news release. (It does not specify what conditions have to be met, however.)

More missions and events are on the way too. From late July to late October, you can tackle elite deck gift missions to snag a Fighting-type deck headlined by Mega Lucario ex and Hitmonchan ex. The first half of August will feature Ruler of the Skies Emblem Events where you put your skills to the test and take on other players. Ruler of the Skies will be available in Pokémon TCG Pocket on July 29 at 9 p.m. EDT.
