A ready-made salad, pre-marinated chicken or a neatly packaged poke bowl can turn “What’s for dinner?” panic into a sigh of relief. They’re the shortcut we all need sometimes in order to check everything off on our to-do list.
And honestly, who hasn’t leaned hard on those grab-and-go options after a long day when the thought of chopping an onion feels personally offensive? But as convenient as they are, and in some cases healthy if they’re fresh and not overly processed, they’re still products like anything else, which means recalls can happen. And when they do, it’s worth paying attention. That’s especially true if your go-to shortcut came from a favorite spot like Costco.

Right now there’s a recall underway of Kirkland Signature Brand Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke. The recall, which was announced on Saturday, Sept. 20, was brought about the Western United Fish Company dba Annasea Foods Group of Kent, WA, which supplies this particular item to Costco stores. It affects 3,314.7 lbs. of the Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke and has the Costco Item Number of 17193, with a sell-by date of 9/22/2025.
Why Is the Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke Being Recalled?
Interestingly enough, the recall is in effect not because of the tuna used in the product (which is probably everyone’s first assumption), but rather the green onions used in the recipe. These green onions may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
In fact, even if you’re a healthy individual, you could still suffer short-term symptoms like a high-fever, severe headache, stiffness and nausea, among other things, should you have a Listeria infection.
Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported yet in connection with the Costco Poke.

What To Do If You Purchased The Recalled Product
First, check your fridge to see if you have purchased the item involved in the recall. It’s packaged in clear plastic clamshell containers and has the Kirkland Signature brand label with the pack Date of 9/18/2025 and sell-by date of 9/22/2025. You would have found it in the deli section of your local Costco warehouse. The product was sold on September 18 in Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
