PSAC Strike: Union providing update Saturday afternoon

The Canadian Public Service Alliance said it will provide an update on the status of negotiations with the federal government on Saturday afternoon.

PSAC will host a media scrum at 1:15 PM EDT at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel on Kent Street.

The union is not picketing this weekend. Contract negotiations continued. Finance Committee Chairman Mona Fortier said she was confident an agreement would be reached and that the union had made progress this week.

Canada’s largest public sector union, the PSAC, went on a nationwide strike Wednesday after failing to reach an agreement with the Treasury on contract negotiations over wages and including remote work language in collective bargaining agreements. It has started. More than 100,000 civil servants have pickedeted this week.

This is a developing story. CTV News Ottawa will provide the latest updates as they become available.
