Babies are the embodiment of innocence and unbridled joy, offering us a glimpse into a world uncomplicated by the trials and tribulations of ornery adults who can’t agree on much of anything. They couldn’t care less about what Susie said to Sally or about someone else’s success and whether it’s a threat to yours or not. In a word, they’re pure, and most of us would do anything we can to protect the littlest among us. Of course, exactly how to do that is another topic us adults seem to have a hard time agreeing on, but we’ll save that for another day.

When it comes to babies, they aren’t able to fend for themselves right away, leaving it up to us to ensure they’re nurtured and cared for until they can start to handle things on their own. Specifically, when it comes to food, our little tykes solely rely on what we give them, and it’s important to make sure it’s safe. Whether your little one is noshing on Gerber’s Get Em’s or one of Glowbowl’s internationally-inspired tastes, what we feed our little ones is vital to their growth and development.

This also means keeping an eye out when it comes to foods that might be harmful to our little bundle of joy, and if you recently bought baby food from Publix you may want to double check it before mealtime. A recent voluntary recall was issued for Publix Greenwise Pear, Kiwi, Spinach & Pea Baby Food due to elevated levels of lead found in the products. The recall covers baby food sold at all 1,404 Publix locations across eight states.

Specifically, the affected products are 4-ounce pouches of the aforementioned flavor with a best-by date of 11/1/2025, distributed across Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky. There are currently no reported illnesses in connection with the product, and per a statement from the brand, all “potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves.” That being said, there are no safe levels of lead consumption so if you happen to have purchased the affected items, it’s best to discard or return them to the location of purchase for a refund.

Concerned shoppers can contact Publix’s dedicated customer care hotline at 1-800-242-1227 and are urged to return any unused product to the store for a full refund. Maybe, we’ll just make our own baby food instead.
