The 97th Academy Awards takes place this Sunday at 7 p.m.Mike Blake/Reuters

The 97th Oscars is taking place this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET, and the biggest stars in the movie world will gather to crown their winners. Films such as Anora, The Brutalist, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez and Conclave are vying for a number of awards, while stars such as Mikey Madison, Adrien Brody, Zoe Saldaña and Kieran Culkin lead the top acting awards.

It was only three years ago that the infamous “slap” happened on stage, and just one year since Canadian Ryan Gosling performed an iconic rendition of I’m Just Ken. Who knows what unexpected moments await us this year, especially, as The Globe’s film editor Barry writes, the state of the movie industry a bit of a dumpster fire right now.

On Monday, March 3 at 1 p.m. ET, Hertz and deputy arts & books editor Rebecca Tucker will be answering reader questions on the Academy Awards. Hertz shared his predictions for who will win – and who he thinks should win – at the Oscars.
