Hold onto your hats, folks! As the leaves fall and the temperature cools, many Canadians’ eyes are already on the holidays. However, a new Quebec winter forecast for 2024-2025 promises anything but a calm, cozy December.

Will Montreal get snow for Christmas 2024?
This forecast from the Farmers’ Almanac backs up an earlier report from MétéoMédia, which hinted that December could kick off winter in Quebec with a serious chill.
According to meteorologist Réjean Ouimet, “Some indications suggest that winter will set in more strongly than in recent years. Cold and snow have often been a long time coming, but this year will be different.” In fact, Ouimet noted that the last truly cold December in Quebec was back in 2018.
Will this winter be entirely white in Quebec? That’s still up in the air and largely depends on how La Niña shapes up. La Niña is a natural climate pattern that could either keep Quebec relatively mild with fewer Arctic blasts or bring in a brutal winter if it shifts cold air towards Eastern Canada.
Either way, Ouimet says we could see plenty of snow—or a messy mix of snow, rain, and ice—depending on how the Arctic air flows this season.
With Quebec’s winter weather forecast predicting non-stop winter action throughout November and December, this season is set to start with a bang.
So, whether you’re preparing for snow days or stocking up on hot chocolate, get ready for a chilly one!
