Resident Hotels, a specialist hotel operating company, has signed a franchise agreement with Marriott International to convert its four Sleeperz Hotels to the Four Points Flex by Sheraton brand. This move follows the acquisition of a majority stake in Sleeperz Hotels by Mactaggart Family & Partners, with Resident Hotels taking over operations since November 2022.

The Sleeperz Hotels portfolio, located in Cardiff, Dundee, Edinburgh, and Newcastle upon Tyne, features over four hundred rooms strategically placed in city centers near mainline rail stations.

Resident Hotels CEO, David Orr, stated that acquiring Sleeperz allowed them to enter the mid-scale segment and enhance their expertise in managing city center hotels, expanding their appeal to real estate owners. The conversion to Marriott’s midscale brand aligns well with their growth plans and operational strengths.

The rebranding of the hotels is set to be completed in 2025, with renovations funded by Sleeperz Hotels’ principal investors.

William Laxton, CEO of Mactaggart Family & Partners, expressed confidence in the partnership, expecting exceptional returns from combining the Four Points Flex by Sheraton brand with Resident Hotels’ operational proficiency.

Marriott International’s Senior Director of Development for the UK & Ireland, Kate Wallin, highlighted the growing interest in conversion projects within the midscale segment and looks forward to collaborating with Resident Hotels, known for their operational excellence.
