CultureBrew.Art (CBA) is a digital platform that promotes and fosters intersectional interculturalism throughout the performing, literary, media and visual arts. Its central tool is a national searchable database of Indigenous and racialized artists – actors, writers, singers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, directors, designers, composers, choreographers, stage managers, and other arts and culture professionals – to which theatres, dance and opera companies, film/TV casting professionals, indie directors/producers, schools, community and social service non-profits, government agencies, media outlets, ad agencies, and more may access as subscribers.

CBA is a powerful tool for building a more inclusive arts and culture sector that more authentically reflects Canada by promoting Indigenous and racialized artists; increasing hiring opportunities for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) artists; and fostering intercultural connection, community, and artistic collaboration. CBA is searchable by artistic discipline, gender, racial/ethnic heritage – Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis), African diaspora, East/Southeast Asian diaspora, Latin American (Latinx) diaspora, South Asian diaspora, West Asian/Southwest Asian/North African (Middle Eastern/Arab) diaspora, mixed ethnicity – and other fields as determined by research data gathered through community consultations.

CultureBrew.Art (CBA) welcomes everyone from all sectors of society seeking Indigenous and racialized artists working in the literary, media, performing, and visual arts.

We invite schools and post-secondary institutions, community and social service agencies, media outlets, arts councils, funders, government agencies, as well as arts, heritage, and cultural organizations to discover the wealth and diversity of BIPOC talent from across Canada.

Please note that for enhanced privacy and security, CBA features 2-factor authentication to access accounts. If your organization would like more than one person to have access to the BIPOC artist database, we recommend setting up multiple accounts that fit within your budgetary parameters.* Examples:

  • Your annual, project, or departmental budget is between $50,000 – $99,999, and you would like two people in your organization to have access. You could elect to purchase two accounts at $6/month instead of one account at $12/month.
  • Your budget exceeds $500,000, and you need four people to have access. You could elect to purchase three accounts at $120/year instead of one account at $350/year, and add a fourth account at the lowest rate for $60/year.

We encourage all potential subscribers to keep in mind that CultureBrew.Art relies on the generosity and support of the wider arts and culture community to keep CBA a self-sustaining initiative. If you would like multiple accounts, but are not sure how best to set these up for your organization, our Community Builder would be happy to assist!
