Return of Highly-Anticipated Taco Bell Item Delayed

The re-release of Taco Bell’s Caramel Apple Empanada has reportedly been delayed.

As fans already know, the super sweet limited-edition item features a crispy and light exterior shell that’s filled with apple pieces and a creamy caramel filling, and it was initially said to be hitting online menus for loyalty (app) users on Oct. 31.

Now, Parade has learned that the fall treat may not be around for another few weeks. Markie_devo, a food blogger who’s gained a massive following of over 135,000 Instagram users for being among the first to debut fast food menu updates and upcoming grocery store snack items, recently revealed the return of the highly-awaited dessert has been pushed back until the end of next month. 

But to make up for the inevitable disappointment (brought on by the holdup and its recent collectible cup controversy), the Mexican-inspired fast food chain is also offering fans the chance to sip out of a throwback-style cup featuring a random design from the company’s archives since it was first introduced in the 1960s.

According to the influencer, a majority of the limited-edition menu will still be available come the end of October, except for the Caramel Apple Empanada, which won’t be offered until Thursday, Nov. 21, when it becomes an exclusive in-app menu item at participating locations.

A rep for Taco Bell did not immediately return Parade’s request for comment.

The Caramel Apple Empanada is part of the brand’s nostalgic “Through the Decades Menu,” which includes several other returning promotional items: Taco Bell’s OG Tostada, Green Burrito, the Meximelt and Beef Gordita Supreme.

Those who live in the Minneapolis area are also getting a sweet and savory new addition this fall, as Taco Bell is testing an all-new variety of Chalupas at select locations this fall.
